How to prepare for a golf tournament?

I have a golf tournament tomorrow and I was wondering if there is any advice on it. It is a big tournament for me. Is there any way to stay calm or focus better? Or just any advice?

Start drinking heavily….

should i focus more on beer or golf?
A. Rekkin, somebody IS paying for it all. neece

If you drink a lot of beer, the rest of the players will make it up for you…..lol….scrambles are fun, drink a ton of beer and enjoy the round

What are some creative ways to plan a benefit golf outing?

this outing is benefiting a sports club team. I am searching to figure out what all I need. How do I go about obtaining local sponsors, silent auction, donations?

Unfortunately there is no substitute for hard work in the area of marketing. You need to get out and publicize your event. It will help if you have a larger number of participants, because businesses will be more eager to participate.

Go out and offer hole sponserships. Allow the business to put up a sign on the tee box of each hole they choose to sponsor and charge a set amount to be a sponser (ie $200 per hole sponsored). I’d also go out and try to get your local sports talk radio show involved. Many of them will allow you to come on during the week and talk about the event. If you could land a celebrity to play, then you can have people "bid" to play with the celebrity. They do this for benefit tournaments in the Nashville area. Usually local celebrities will participate, and there have even been some events that Vince Gill, Amy Grant, etc. have come out to support the cause. People will pay to play with high profile people.

Mostly, just emphasize the cause that you are playing for. Most people still have good hearts and will jump up to help out.

Help with golf tournament for benefit?

One of my good friends lost her husband unexpectedly two and half weeks ago, and they have two children. I would like to host a golf tournament to benefit the family, but don’t know where to start! I don’t know anything about golf, so I don’t know what mulligans are…..does anyone have any experience with this? The golf course is a big one in Houston, and they will help with everything, but wanted to get some ideas and insight before I jump in! Thanks!

Spiritual Mulligan, Is there anything in your life you would like a chance to do over?

Like in golf, some people take a mulligan (kind of like a second chance)…is there anything in your life you would like to go back and do over? If so, what is it?

Just one huh. Probably walk out on my husband when we were dating. About two weeks in would have been good, and told him what an ass he was and told him off. Yeah, well 8 years later here I am and trust me, I wish I wasn’t married to him.

How many of each type of hole are there on the golf course?

On a 18-hole golf course, there are par-3 holes, par -4 holes, and par-5 holes. A golfer who shoots par on every hole has a total of 74. There are twice as many par-4 holes as there are par-5 holes. How many of each type of hole are there on the golf course?

How many par-3 holes are there?
How many par-4 holes are there?
How many par-5 holes are there?

equation1: 3*N3 + 4*N4 + 5*N5 = 74
equation2: N3 + N4 + N5 = 18
equation3: 2*N5 = N4

insert equation 3 into equations 1 and 2, and simplify.
3*N3 + 4*2*N5 + 5*N5 = 74
N3 + 2*N5 + N5 = 18

3*N3 + 13*N5 = 74
N3 + 3*N5 = 18

now insert the simplified equation 2 into the simplified equation 1, and simplify further.
3*(18-3*N5) + 13*N5 = 74
54 – 9*N5 + 13*N5 = 74
4*N5 = 20
-> N5 = 5

via equation3 -> N4 = 10
via equation2 -> N3 = 3

hence, 3 par-3s, 10 par-4s, and 5 par-5s….

cheers

EDIT: slowfing…. your matrix has a typo
3 4 5 74
0 1 -2 0
1 1 1 18

Golf Etiquette needed for caddying?

what kind of proper golf etiquette do i need to get a job caddying at a golf course. I know some basic stuff about golfing because i go to the range and my brother plays. But, i heard if you caddy you make a good amount of money, so what will i need to know to be a caddy.

You need to know how a ball is played from a different lie, what club to use in different situations. You have to carry clubs, make small tallk with the golfer, and basically help him play. basic golf ettiquete is required such as not talking while another player is hitting, fixing the golfers divots etc.

What is the best golf ball for an amateur?

I would like to know as an amateur golfer with a high handicap, what is the best golf ball to use?

Just like anything else there are economy priced balls, mid priced, and then the expensive ones the big boys use. You don’t want to pay the price for those just to lose them. Here are a few good priced balls that aren’t junk.

Nike Power Distance Soft
Wilson Staff Fifty Golf Balls
Callaway Warbird golf balls

These are a few under $20, there are also recycled balls you can get 60 for under $30.
