   A tournament is an official event with strict rules of golf are in forced. That’s were the big pressure comes from. An outing is less formal and could range from you and a friend going out to play up to a large group of co-workers or friends with your own ground rules if you all agree. If you don’t all agree then the rule book should reign. Either way works so just enjoy it. Your not on tv or paying the rent. Remember the game of golf is 50% physical and 90% mental.

   usually a tournament is match/stroke play between you and a bunch of players where you play for yourself. A outing is usually done in scramble or best ball format where you and your foursome work together to make the best score you can. You all hit and play the best ball that one of you hit.

   A golf outing is an event which uses the golf course to raise funds for charity, a specific organization like the Elks, or Coman Breast Cancer . A golf tournament can be within the country club or public facility where members compete with one another for recognition on various plaques, or where state or national golf organizations have tournaments to determine champions for various venues such as amateur, mid amateur, open competitions and professional play ordinarily PGA events as you see on television.
