What is the difference between a golf outing and a golf tournament?
I was just wondering.
A tournament is an official event with strict rules of golf are in forced. That’s were the big pressure comes from. An outing is less formal and could range from you and a friend going out to play up to a large group of co-workers or friends with your own ground rules if you all agree. If you don’t all agree then the rule book should reign. Either way works so just enjoy it. Your not on tv or paying the rent. Remember the game of golf is 50% physical and 90% mental.

usually a tournament is match/stroke play between you and a bunch of players where you play for yourself. A outing is usually done in scramble or best ball format where you and your foursome work together to make the best score you can. You all hit and play the best ball that one of you hit.
